Screen Mesh: Phiferglass, Phifer’s trademarked fiberglass screening, has been the standard in the industry for decades. Woven from permanent glass yarn, which has been coated with a protective vinyl to ensure lasting beauty, color and flexibility and will not rust, corrode or stain. Produced under the most exacting conditions to meet rigid specifications and has passed 1200 hours of QUV accelerated weathering.
Frame: Standard - 5/16" x 3/4" Aluminum
Corners: Mitered - Internal aluminum corner keys (square plastic corners tend to become brittle and break)
Sizes: Every porch is different and it is extremely uncommon for every opening to be square. Our goal is for the finished product to look fantastic, which is why we do not charge additional fees to make the porch screens out of square. For example, if the top rail measures 48" and the bottom rail measures 47 3/4", let us know. We will make the panel to fit your opening exactly. The price does not change for "normal" adjustments; however, shape charges are added for shaped screens. Shaped screens are usually in the gable area and for sloping porches. Please contact us for price quotes on triangular, trapezoid, or arched screens.
Email / Fax: Most homeowners and contractors email or fax their porch drawings. We do not accept porch screen measurements over the phone. Once the drawings and/or sizes are received, we will send you an estimated price for the porch panels including shipping. In order to accurately provide a price, please include the following: type of screen mesh, frame color, delivery address, type of address (residential or commercial), how the screens were measured (inside or outside view), how the screens will be installed (from inside or outside), and whether the sizes provided are the exact outside dimensions you want the panels or if an allowance needs to be taken.
Installation Recommendation: We fasten every porch screen we install with screws. For best results, pre-drill the frame using a 1/8" drill bit. Fastening with screws maintains the tension on the screen. A tight screen will last much longer due decreased wind resistance. Loose and flappy screens are not aesthetically pleasing and will eventually blow out or tear.
Shipping: Most porch screens are large and require special packaging for shipment. Porch screens are typically shipped via freight truck. The screens are encased in a wooden container on top of a pallet. The wooden boxes will weigh at least 150 pounds.
Shipping Charges: The estimated shipping calculator does not accurately display final shipping charges. We will contact you prior to manufacturing screens to discuss final shipping cost. In order to receive an accurate quote, we recommend contacting us prior to ordering. Commercial shipping addresses are typically more cost effective than residential deliveries. Lift gate requests need to be known in advance. Most shipments will require someone to receive the shipment from the freight carrier.
Description: Each screen is made within a 1/16" tolerance. The standard fiberglass porch screen is a cost effective option that offers good bug protection and visibility.
